Appreciation of the historical heritage
The square takes up the structure of the former train station by bringing tracks 5–16 to the surface. Platforms and “track beds” alternate, giving the area a distinctive identity.

To preserve the uniqueness of the station, the original track numbers are embedded in the paving of the corresponding platforms. Each platform features unique elements designed to meet the different needs of the community.

Tracks 5 & 6 - Sports for all generations
A space where young and old come together to engage in various sports activities using specialized equipment. At the heart of this area is a boccia court, inviting everyone to play and connect.

Tracks 7 & 8 - Research forest
A “Tiny Forest” with dense vegetation and a small path invites visitors to explore. Information boards provide facts about natural processes and raise awareness of urban nature. A covered pavilion is available and open for free use.

Tracks 9 & 10 – Tranquility grove
Beneath a dense canopy of leaves, seating platforms provide space for breaks, serve as a meeting point, or allow relaxation in the shade of the trees - both for groups and individuals.

Tracks 11 & 12 - Play and fun
This platform is specially designed for the youngest visitors: An adjacent water area offers a welcoming way to cool off, especially on hot summer days.

Tracks 13 & 14 - Marketplace
Whether a flea market or weekly market - this platform offers a versatile space for different stands. There is a permanently installed small café and sufficient space for a changing program, which can also be combined with the adjacent multifunctional area.

Tracks 15 & 16 - Multi-purpose area
This space features a covered bicycle parking area with an adjacent bicycle repair shop and information stands about the new square and quarter. This spacious open area can also be used for a wide variety of activities and events and can incorporate the surrounding area.

Intermediate Space – Track beds
In the “track beds”, succession areas are created that are planted with pioneer shrubs. Nature is given free rein here, allowing spontaneous vegetation to establish itself and gradually become denser. Additionally, these areas can function as water reservoirs following the sponge city principle. This space changes along with the city around it, reflecting the dynamics between urban life and nature.
